We created The Creative Break for every woman who's lost herself in the roles of caregiver, employee, and life manager—who's forgotten what it feels like to take a break and prioritize her own wellbeing.
We've seen too many brilliant women—maybe like you—who are accomplished in every area except the one that matters most: their own happiness and wellbeing. Women who've forgotten what fun feels like, who carry guilt about wanting time for themselves, who are giving everything to everyone else while running on empty, and feeling like their minds never get a moment to truly rest.
We believe every woman deserves a space to rediscover her spark and to prioritize her health and happiness without apology. When we see women transform from overwhelmed to inspired through our gatherings—and truly embracing that self-care isn't selfish—we know this work matters.
That's why we are passionate about creating spaces where women can pause, play, and reconnect with themselves without judgment. When we watch someone rediscover their light and learn that taking care of themselves makes them better at everything else, that's when we know we're making a real difference.
As a an art student, and then a graphics professional, I allowed myself little time to create for fun. I spent my career in marketing, package design, advertising, and finally web support. But it was many years before I realized the value of taking short, regular breaks to just play.
How I wish I’d had a regular creative break in my life during the years when I was a full time worker and a single mom! I could lose my temper over the slightest thing and felt exhausted and boring. Doing something creative on my own time just seemed like more work.
Once I discovered how short breaks to allow myself to play actually made me more productive, I began to share the joy with coworkers and friends. Over the years, I have put together a number of art-based projects that get us out of our self-critical mind and into a spirit of play. I enjoy sharing these activities with others, especially people who think they aren’t artistic.
After 14 years in high-pressure corporate sales, I was the woman who forgot to eat lunch twice a week, who snapped at loved ones over minor things, who had completely lost touch with what brought me joy. I was accomplished professionally but felt empty personally—like I was going through the motions while losing myself in the process.
I remember the exact moment I realized I couldn't continue living this way. I was completely burned out, and I needed something to quiet the noise in my head and help me breathe again. I knew in my gut that this old way of living wasn't sustainable, that there had to be more to life. I was tired of just going through the motions each day instead of actually living.
The transformation didn't happen overnight. It started with giving myself permission to pause. To prioritize play over productivity, to embrace imperfection instead of trying to do everything perfectly. I discovered that creativity wasn't about being artistic; it was about reconnecting with joy and finding my community.
Now I wake up humming. I buy things just because they make me smile. I've learned that taking time for myself doesn't make me selfish—it makes me better at everything else. Most importantly, I've built a life and business around helping other women make this same journey from overwhelmed to inspired."
The Ripple Effect: "This transformation inspired me to create The Creative Break, where women have discovered that pause, recharge, play, connect isn't just a tagline! It's a genuinely life-changing practice."
